Apple's iOS 18 uses AI to create playlist artwork
iOS 18 leverages Apple's advanced AI to automatically generate artwork for playlists, enhancing user experience with personalized visual content.
Apple appears to be gearing up to introduce a new capability in iOS 18, allowing users to craft personalized artwork for their playlists in Apple Music using Apple's advanced AI. This feature, uncovered within the code of iOS 18 beta 4 by 9to5Mac, will enable users to generate unique visuals tailored to their playlists through Image Playground.
Central to this functionality is a novel "Create Image" button, visible during playlist editing. When activated, this button will launch Image Playground, a tool first showcased at WWDC earlier this year. Image Playground empowers users to generate images based on text commands, offering styles like animation, illustration, and sketches, albeit not photorealistic ones. Users can specify their artistic preferences, and Apple Music will generate several options aligning with the playlist's theme or content.
Although several Apple Intelligence features were anticipated in summer beta releases, including references that were subsequently removed from Apple's website, Bloomberg's recent report suggests some AI features might be delayed until 2025. As of the fourth developer beta, Apple Intelligence has yet to make an appearance, leaving uncertainty about which features will be included in the iOS 18.0 release. iOS 18 is slated for fall release, with developers and public beta users already accessing previews.
