Tinder introduces AI tool for selecting your most appealing profile pictures
Discover Tinder's new Photo Selector feature prioritizing user control and privacy. Biometrics match selfies to stored images on-device, enhancing safety.
Tinder has launched Photo Selector, an AI-driven tool designed to curate a selection of profile photos for users. The tool aims to enhance the likelihood of receiving positive responses by analyzing images from the user’s camera roll. Users can then choose which photos they wish to display. This feature expands upon Tinder's existing Smart Photos function, which uses algorithms to showcase the most popular photo from a profile. After being tested since August of the previous year, the Photo Selector is now available for wider use. Tinder's official website explains that the tool selects photos based on criteria like lighting and composition, automatically excluding group shots and other inappropriate images. Users can activate the AI tool by taking a selfie or uploading a photo from their device. If dissatisfied with the initial selection, users can retry the process or provide feedback via Tinder’s contact form.
Tinder's new feature promises enhanced safety measures
Tinder has introduced a new feature, Photo Selector, which the company claims prioritizes user control and data privacy. According to Tinder, the feature operates exclusively on the user's device and does not collect or store data externally. Biometrics are utilized solely to match the initial selfie or uploaded photo with images on the device, and these biometric data are deleted once the feature is exited. Only the images selected by the user for display on their profile are stored by the app to attract potential matches.
In an earlier safety enhancement, Tinder, owned by Match Group, implemented "Share My Dat'" to bolster user security and confidence.
The Photo Selector feature will initially roll out to users in the US by the end of July, with a global release expected in the following weeks.
