For recurring tasks, type "every Wednesday" after the task name, and a new instance will appear each Wednesday after you mark the previous one complete. This feature prevents your to-do list from becoming cluttered with unfinished recurring tasks if not completed on time.

However, note that you cannot create subtasks for recurring tasks. As a workaround, you can create the task as a sub-project. Todoist allows the creation of sub-projects within projects to keep your project list organized. You can track the progress of any project from the Productivity tab in the settings.
