Adobe introduces Firefly Generative AI to mobile devices
Now, with the beta version tailored for smartphones, several of Firefly's AI-powered functionalities are making their way to mobile platforms.
Adobe has rolled out a beta version of its latest Express mobile app for both Android and iOS devices, marking the introduction of the company's Firefly generative AI technology into mobile content creation and editing processes. Since its initial launch nearly a year ago, Adobe has consistently refined its AI model and seamlessly integrated it into various apps such as Photoshop, Premiere, and the desktop edition of Express.
Now, with the beta version tailored for smartphones, several of Firefly's AI-powered functionalities are making their way to mobile platforms. These include Generative Fill, text-to-image conversion, text effects, and basic video editing capabilities within the Adobe Express mobile app. According to Govind Balakrishnan, Senior Vice President of Adobe Express and Digital Media Services, there has been a significant surge in user engagement with Adobe Express, resulting in a doubling of content creation activity over the past year. With the incorporation of Firefly into the mobile app, users gain access to innovative tools that enable the creation of standout videos, designs, photos, and images.
Adobe Express remains steadfast in its core mission: to provide users, regardless of their skill level, with a swift and user-friendly platform for crafting engaging photo and video content. The company has consistently asserted that Firefly serves to advance this goal by empowering creators in novel ways. Specifically targeting "solopreneurs" and "students," key demographics for Adobe Express, the company highlights Firefly's ability to facilitate faster editing for platforms like TikTok and Instagram, enhance school projects, and elevate marketing materials for small businesses.
Moreover, Adobe asserts that creative professionals can expedite mobile content creation for social marketing teams through brand kits and seamless collaboration. The incorporation of Firefly into Adobe Express aims to enable enterprise marketers and knowledge workers to expand on-brand content creation to mobile devices.
The latest beta version of Adobe Express for mobile devices introduces additional features beyond Firefly's generative AI capabilities. These include new content templates, extra quick actions like "remove background" and "resize image," content scheduling, brand kits, and real-time collaboration tools.
The public beta for the new Adobe Express mobile app is now available for both Android and iOS devices. During this beta phase, premium features are accessible to users at no cost. While the beta version is directly accessible through the Google Play Store, iOS users need to register on Adobe's website due to restrictions imposed by the Apple App Store.
