YouTube premium utilizes AI for automated skipping of tedious video segments

YouTube has introduced several new features for its Premium subscribers, such as Jump Ahead and Shorts Picture-in-Picture. The Jump Ahead feature allows users to skip through boring segments of videos by double-tapping and selecting a button that appears on the screen's bottom right. This feature combines AI and viewer data to identify commonly skipped sections. Initially available on Android in the US, it will soon roll out to iOS users within weeks.

Shorts Picture-in-Picture, another update, enables users to overlay YouTube Shorts while multitasking on their device. This feature lets users browse other apps, check messages, or simply pass the time while watching Shorts in a resizable window on the main YouTube screen.
