Gemini unveils revolutionary voice upgrade
Google's Gemini chatbot has garnered praise but also criticism for its current limitations.

Google's Gemini chatbot has garnered praise but also criticism for its current limitations. Despite Google's efforts to narrow the feature gap with Assistant, Gemini still has ground to cover. While fundamental functionalities such as timers and alarms are anticipated, recent insights suggest upcoming support for multiple voices, currently limited to a single male voice. Google has begun introducing a new female voice for text responses in the Gemini app on Android, although this change has not extended to web and iPhone versions. According to 9to5Google, there's currently no option to revert to the previous voice, indicating ongoing testing of new voices. This rollout seems confined to Android devices for now, unlike Google Assistant, which offers a choice of 12 voices. It appears Google may introduce new voices for Gemini akin to Assistant's color-coded options, aligning with its eventual plan to integrate Gemini more comprehensively.

Gemini closing the Gap with Google Assistant

Text: Google's Gemini is gradually closing the gap with Assistant, aiming to eventually ease users into transitioning to the chatbot. Alongside recent additions like lock screen responsiveness and upcoming support for Routines, Gemini still lacks some of Assistant's capabilities. However, the addition of Routines could attract Assistant users to Gemini. Further enhancements are expected, such as better functionality on large-screen devices like foldables and tablets, potentially allowing simultaneous use of two chatbot instances.
