Apple rumored to integrate Google Gemini and ChatGPT in upcoming AI features
Apple is rumored to integrate Google Gemini and ChatGPT in its upcoming AI features, promising advanced capabilities at launch.
During WWDC 2024, Apple confirmed that its upcoming Apple Intelligence toolset will integrate ChatGPT to handle user queries beyond Siri's capabilities. Reports now suggest Google Gemini might join as a second third-party chatbot option, allowing users on iPhone, iPad, and MacBook to leverage either ChatGPT or Google Gemini for cloud-based queries Siri can't resolve on-device. Apple is expected to announce this collaboration with Google in the fall, coinciding with the launch of Apple Intelligence, iOS 18, and iPhone 16.
In March, Ulanoff questioned whether Apple would differentiate its iPhone 16, iOS 18, and future models sufficiently from Android phones like the Google Pixel 8 Pro or Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra to attract switchers, emphasizing the importance of unique benefits. However, Apple's partnership with ChatGPT could serve as a distinct selling point for its upcoming devices. Additionally, Apple aims to monetize Apple Intelligence by securing a portion of subscription revenues from AI partners, as reported by Gurman recently.
It appears probable that Apple will introduce a paid version of Apple Intelligence, integrating premium features from ChatGPT and Google Gemini. According to Gurman, Apple briefly discussed integrating Meta's Llama chatbot but opted against it due to privacy issues and a preference for Google's more advanced AI technology.
